MY BIG QUESTION is what years/models of other cars can I use to grab a replacement tranny? From what I am hoping (again conflicting information so I’m not sure…) I can start from models as early as 1998 and as late as 2008. Car models could be Corolla, Matrix, Celica, Pontiac Vibe, Geo Prizm. The driver’s side electric fan is not coming on when the engine heats up. Its fine driving down the road but the temp starts to rise when not moving in traffic. Turn on the A/C and both the driver’s side and passenger’s side fans turn on. I took the relay out for the #1 fan and jumpered… HH Limited. Today, I suddenly got a message on the nav screen telling me that there was no map DVD in the player. As I was on a road trip and following nav directions, I knew that it was indeed in there. But I decided to push the Open button anyway, thinking that if I ejected it and put it back… I dragged and dropped files from my music library in Windows onto the USB stick. WAW and WMA files. After several tries, I decided to export them via a file converter, converting them to MP3, 256 quality onto the stick. Now I can play all files. There must be something in the filestructure from Windows that the cars multimedia system doesn’t like? The previous Toyota we purchased (’08 Camry) had a 10/07 manufactured date – and when we purchased it in April ’08, there were ’09 models on the ground. In talking to several dealers in NE FL, seems like the ’18 models are ‘just arriving’. The previous few cars in the family had the ‘new’ model year start in the August/September time frame. I’ve also noticed Toyota will… I would think Toyota has the capability of programming so that you can’t drive away without the smart key. I understand shutting a vehicle down half way down the road is a safety concern but why not stop it from happening in the first place?? Toyota corporate tries to discourage Lexus owners from taking their cars to Toyota dealers for service. They’re the same vehicles under the hood, but the Lexus dealers don’t want to be undercut on service by the Toyota dealer down the street. I don’t know, but why would you want to? The lower viscosity oils are primarily being specified for better fuel economy, at the possible expense of long term engine reliability. Also, in my experience, it is rarely a good idea to use a lower viscosity oil as the engine ages. So even if your engine would have worked OK with 0W-16 when new, now that it has been driven using 0W-20, there are some … I took my SE in for its 5K service to today and asked the service manager about the package of rubber plugs that I found in the glove compartment.
