Enjoy open green spaces and a long, white sandy beach at Panmure Island Provincial Park. With water on both sides of a causeway, this area is known as one of the most picturesque of Prince Edward Island. The park provides life-guards for its supervised swimming areas. The location along a causeway gives water access on both sides of the highway with the sheltered St. Marys Bay on one side and an ocean beach on the other. It provides a commanding view of the long Panmure beach, which is wide, sandy and looks not too steep, i.e., works for smaller children. As part of Panmure Island Provincial Park, the beach includes showers, washrooms, and a seasonal convenience store, making it easy to spend the whole day. We climbed to the top and really enjoyed the views. If you go off season, there’s not much to see as the lighthouse will be locked. The view is beautiful though, even on a rainy day when I went. The beach along the drive is lovely. Panmure Island Provincial Park stands as one of Prince Edward Island’s most spectacular coastal destinations, offering visitors pristine sandy beaches, excellent camping facilities, and exceptional wildlife viewing opportunities. The causeway also created an extensive barrier beach and sand dune formation, which is now protected by Panmure Island Provincial Park; this park is not actually located on the island but along the causeway.
