Norton Power Eraser uses our most aggressive scanning technology to eliminate threats that traditional virus scanning doesn’t always detect, so you can get your PC back. I want to remove that program. How can I do it? I cannot find this program from the list of "Uninstall program" in the control panel. Thanks I have seen some messages about using Norton Power Eraser if malware got by Norton. What is Norton Power eraser and why would Norton power eraser find a risk if NIS didn't??? After using Norton Power Eraser (happy me, no crimeware found) I’m confronted with a very special file called “bootlog_NPETraceSession.etl " (filer: Documents and Settings/Admin/Local Settings/NPE” eating up all the free space on my harddisk. I tried the Norton Removal tooI without success; I still can not find the proces that produces this file. Any known solution? Norton Power Eraser is not a suitable tool for a second opinion scanner. I have to shut it down manually, the Cancel button won't even work. Is it my computer or is something else wrong? Norton Power Eraser will be discontinued on April 30, 2026. After this date, the tool will no longer be supported and functional. Review the FAQs below for more details about this change. Its functionality is now integrated into Norton security applications, which offer stronger ... Hi PStechPaul, Norton Power Eraser differs from the basic Norton AV products in having a lower threshold for determining if a file is possibly malicious. Because NPE is more aggressive and less discriminating, it is prone to false positives, and it is very likely to flag files that it has never seen before as being potential malware. You do need to review its findings and exclude those files ... From the main Norton Power Eraser Tutorials page: "Norton Power Eraser uses aggressive methods to detect threats, and there is a risk that it can select some legitimate programs for removal. Because Norton Power Eraser uses aggressive methods to detect threats, there is a risk that it can select some legitimate programs for removal. You should use this tool very carefully.
